Originally, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s production of “Cinderella” was a made-for-television show starring Julie Andrews in the title role. It was the only time the Broadway-centric duo combined for this type of project.
The musical adaptation of the classic fairy tale reached 107 million viewers in 1957, according to PBS.org.
The University of Minnesota Duluth’s theater and symphony orchestra join forces for a stage production.
Fairy-tale primer: “Cinderella” is the story of a beleaguered girl with two terrible stepsisters and a wretched stepmother who goes from rags to glass slippers to riches with the wave of a magic wand.

Maxey Mitchell, Nate Byrne, Paul Bigaouette and Madison Haeg star in the College of St. Scholastica’s production of “Pride and Prejudice.”
The Bennett ladies need husbands in “Pride and Prejudice,” a play based on the novel by Jane Austen. But marrying off Elizabeth Bennett is tricky. The fiery second-oldest daughter just can’t get into Mr. Collins, who proposes. She’s got Mr. Darcy stuck in her craw, though not in a good way.
Rumors swirl, assumptions are made, dances are held and there are visits to the country. But will the Bennett girls, particularly Elizabeth, ever find their perfect misters?
This large-cast production includes 24 students from St. Scholastica and is directed by Merry Renn Vaughan.
